Freaks as they were known by in the last century came in many variations. The fat lady was as popular as the beaded lady or the armless wonder


The ir was a sense of community among them and the sideshow provided them with a way to make a honest living.


In the wintertime when the traveling shows were closed, many found employment at Hubert's Museum in Times Square, New York City.   



The undated postcard on the right of the famous Dolly Dimples is marked Dolly Dimples, age 21. Weight 550 Height 5 ft.












The postcard on the right dated 1913 has in the message "I saw these two boys, they looked fatter to me than they do in this picture".
